How much do Instagram influencers earn in Pakistan?
By the Wasta team, Karachi · Updated · 7 min read
The short version
There is no fixed salary. Instagram influencers in Pakistan earn per deal, mainly from paid brand content, with barter, affiliate and discount codes, UGC and events on top. Using indicative reel rates and an assumed two to four paid reels a month, a nano creator might make Rs 4,000 to 16,000 a month, a micro creator Rs 24,000 to 75,000, and a mid tier creator Rs 120,000 to 480,000. That is an illustration, not data: real months vary widely.
- Influencer income is per deal, not a salary, and it changes from month to month.
- Paid brand content is the main source. Barter, codes, UGC and events add to it.
- The monthly figures below are an illustration built from indicative rates, not survey data.
- Engagement, niche, reliability and repeat brands move earnings more than follower count.
- Keep a record of every payment and product you receive.
Where does an influencer's income in Pakistan come from?
- Paid brand deals. A brand pays a fee for a reel, stories or a post. For most creators this is the biggest and most dependable source.
- Barter. Product or a service instead of cash: a meal, an outfit, a salon visit. It has real value but it does not pay the bills, so count it separately. The barter guide explains when it is fair.
- Affiliate links and discount codes. The brand gives you a code or a link and pays a share of each sale it brings, sometimes with a small fixed fee on top. What you earn depends entirely on how many followers buy.
- UGC. Videos you make for a brand to post on its own pages or run as ads. Follower count matters less here, which makes it a good income for smaller creators. See the UGC creator guide.
- Events and appearances. Store openings, launches, food festivals and campus events sometimes pay creators to attend and post. These are usually priced as a package.
- Ambassador retainers. A monthly fee for a set number of posts with one brand. Less common for smaller creators, but steady when it comes.
How much can a nano, micro or mid tier creator earn in a month?
Nobody publishes reliable earnings data for Pakistani creators, so here is a worked illustration instead. It takes the indicative reel rates from the influencer rates guide and multiplies them by an assumed number of paid reels a month. The number of deals is our assumption, chosen to show the arithmetic. It is not a survey, and plenty of creators have months with fewer deals, or none.
| Tier | Followers | Indicative rate per reel | Assumed paid reels a month | Illustrative monthly cash |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nano | 1,000 to 10,000 | Rs 2,000 to 8,000 | 2 | Rs 4,000 to 16,000 |
| Micro | 10,000 to 50,000 | Rs 8,000 to 25,000 | 3 | Rs 24,000 to 75,000 |
| Mid tier | 50,000 to 250,000 | Rs 30,000 to 120,000 | 4 | Rs 120,000 to 480,000 |
A closer look at one month for a micro creator who charges Rs 15,000 a reel: two paid reels (Rs 30,000), one package of three stories at about a third of the reel rate each (Rs 15,000), and one barter dinner. That comes to Rs 45,000 in cash plus a meal. The next month might bring one reel, or four.
Why do some months pay well and others pay nothing?
Influencer work in Pakistan follows the calendar. Brands spend more around Ramzan and Eid, wedding season, summer and winter clothing launches, back to school and big sale periods, and less in between. A creator who earned well in Ramzan can have a slow month after Eid.
- Plan your spending around an average month, not your best one.
- Use quiet months to pitch, build your portfolio and try UGC work.
- Ask brands you enjoyed working with about their next season early, before the budget is spent.
What moves an influencer's earnings up or down?
- Engagement. Brands pay for people who react, not for followers who scroll past.
- Niche. Tech, parenting, finance and other specialist niches have fewer creators, so the right brand pays more.
- A local audience. A Karachi cafe wants Karachi followers. Being clearly local can earn you more than a bigger national audience.
- Reliability. Creators who deliver on time, follow the brief and send results get booked again. Repeat brands are the steadiest income you will have.
- Packages. A reel with stories, or three reels across a month, raises the value of each deal.
- Usage rights and exclusivity. Charged separately, they can add a lot to a deal that would otherwise be small.
- Numbers a brand can trust. Stats that come straight from Instagram are believed more than screenshots, which means less haggling.
Do influencers in Pakistan need to think about tax?
Keep a record of every payment and product you receive, and check with a tax advisor about what you need to file.
How do you raise your rates as a creator?
- 1Track your results. Save the views, reach, saves and replies on every brand post. Numbers are your argument.
- 2Raise for new brands first. Keep a regular client on the old rate for a while and quote new brands the higher one.
- 3Raise in steps. A moderate increase is easier to accept than doubling your price overnight.
- 4Sell packages, not single posts. A bundle at a fair price earns more than a cheap reel.
- 5Charge for extras. Usage rights, exclusivity, rush delivery and extra revisions each get their own line.
- 6Read the signal. If every brand says yes at once, your rate is probably too low.
- 7Make your numbers easy to check. A profile with verified stats and clear rates gets fewer lowball offers. The creator rates page has the rule of thumb for stories and posts.
